Dr. Shereene Idriss

A Note from Our Founder

I'm a board-certified dermatologist on a mission to stop the B.S. around skincare.

As founder of Idriss Dermatology in New York City, I’ve made a career of being honest and transparent with my patients, talking to them one-on-one about what they need (and what they don’t) and educating them about their skincare routines. My philosophy is that subtle cosmetic changes can have dramatic results, and my goal is to help patients look and feel their best.

I’ve always believed skincare should be an empowering form of self-care, but it felt like all that pleasure had vanished. I realized the problem should be solved where it started: online.

A few years ago, I got fed up with the skincare industry that I’m a part of. I was spending more than half my time with patients correcting misinformation they heard online and calming fears that were unfounded. The world of skincare had become inundated with products making ridiculous claims that weren’t based in scientific fact. I’ve always believed skincare should be an empowering form of self-care, but it felt like all that pleasure had vanished. I realized I had to solve the problem where it started: online. So, I got in bed, picked up my phone, and posted a video. And then I made another. Did I edit myself? Nope. Was I honest? Probably too honest. But my patients began sharing the videos, I started answering more people’s questions, and before long, our little group of skincare obsessives had transformed into a global community of empowered nerds. And that’s how our #PillowtalkDerm family was born.
